I love this place. Great staff and wacky customers. I think its the best pub in Eastbourne. No TVs or people talking about football and (so far) no screaming kids or yobs. Hit it at the right time and you won't be disappointed. skippybn21 - 17 Jan 2012 08:56
Best pub we found in Eastbourne and some decent tunes being played for our tastes. They should make the students at least buy a drink though. They seem to come in to use the wifi or chat to friends , but most didn't seem to spend a penny! bionicdog - 25 Sep 2011 14:51
Went in recently, and was uncharacteristically disappointed. There was no real ale, and the delivery wasn't until the next day. This is a pub I use when in Eastbourne, and I feel sure this doesn't happen often, but to remain in the Good Beer Guide surely real ale should always be available. I will hope for better things on my next visit! beerpilgrim - 22 Aug 2011 19:17
In terms of the few negative reviews, let me say this, this pub is the most welcoming pub this side of the Buddhist tent at Glastonbury festival. As it is so welcoming there is a grand variety of people who regularly frequent this establishment. The downside of this is that some of the people are unfortunately judgmental (see review below and the odd comment about "mature students" who are "ignorant," bitter?). Treat the staff with respect and a smile and they will provide for you a great menu (recently expanded), fantastic drinks (with guest ales, no Harvey's ever despite other reviews), comfy chairs/sofas, log fires in winter, a great garden in summer but most importantly that famous welcome. Weekends see bands/deejays playing anything from metal to Regga even Pink Floyd to Nero. The pub is open until 1am Friday and Saturday and 12pm Sunday to Thursday. For those who know, this is a Green King pub that rarely, if ever, actually serves Green King. The ales change regularly and are well kept. For the ubiquitous doubters amongst you, no, I do not work here but I am a regular. We are not loud we are friendly and you are very very welcome. dannyreckless - 15 Aug 2011 21:29
Nice enough mid street town pub. My pint of Harveys was nice and the others went for Doombar which they said was okay. Was also Pride and Hobgoblin on. Snarling_Mallard - 17 Apr 2011 11:00
