The Rock, Chiddingstone Hoath

I can't contribute to the oily fish debate because I had ham, egg and chips. For the record, I liked the chips (and the ham, maybe the eggs were a tad overdone). My wife also enjoyed the ploughmans (with chips), I liked the beer (Rock from Cornwall) and we both liked the totally unspoilt surroundings and the friendly welcome.
A very good pub..just a shame that it is out of bounds unless one of us agrees not to drink.

Cock, St Albans

Had sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago.
The food was fine--not outstanding but above average for sunday lunchtime.
Service was a bit slow but delivered with a smile; you have to blame the management rather than the staff--not enough people .
Beer was excellent.

The Tickled Trout, West Farleigh

Probably a bit "off" to post a comment on a(so called) pub without having set foot in it but...
My wife and I arrived at the Tickled Trout after a very enjoyable walk along the Medway. I would describe us as a "bit scruffy" , both had a bit of mud on our jeans, but well funded and looking forward to a good lunch and a couple of pints. Just about to enter when I clapped eyes on the profesionally printed sign on the door--"smart casual dress only".
Give me abreak!! This is a restaurant, probably with ideas well above its station--a pub it is not.
Bah!!
