I totally agree with CJG - although an abissmal pub with regulars you only see on A league of Gentlemen it seems hall and woodhouse have nothing going for them anymore - most of their ales are poor and most of their pubs are going to the dogs because they just want to make money - no matter what. one day hall and woodhouse will have to close down and I shall laugh and laugh and laugh

The Mitre, Shaftesbury

yes alot better now it is youngs - although they have managed to take all the atmosphere out of it.
Food is good although pricey.
It is regularly full of simpletons.
Best to avoid the beer garden in the summer due to bubbling open sewers at the back - a bit smelly - been going on for at least 2yrs now.

The Half Moon Inn, Shaftesbury

oh dear - it had a hall and woodhouse refurb which means now it is no longer a pub - just a restaurant.
No smoking.
every single person I speak to in shaftesbury cannot say one good word about it.
