Two Brewers, Shoreham

At last there's a bright and cheerful pub in this pretty village. What a transformation ... fresh, clean decor, a great selection of beers and wines and good quality, freshly prepared food instead of the usual processed and frozen fare served at huge profit in so many pubs these days. The pub has very recently been taken over by a local family who have worked so hard to transform it, and to build a new reputation. Early days but first impressions are very positive. Theres a sports bar with TV screen, a cosy snug area and plenty of room for dining. The previous landlord would be amazed to see what a buzzing atmosphere there was at the recent Children in Need charity event. The pub has also scored the best out of all four pubs on the food hygiene 'Scores on the Doors' accreditation, having been awarded four stars just a few days after they re-opened. (PS I was somewhat disturbed to note that two of the others in the village have only scored 1 out of 5 - the sooner they all have to display their ratings, the easier it will be for diners to make an informed choice about where they take their custom!). Give it a try you wont be disappointed

The Olde George Inn, Shoreham

Its such a pity that the most attractive pub in this lovely little village is the worst by far. It has changed hands so many times over the last five or so years but nobody seems to actually want to change it. The very friendly young barmaid who's there during the week does try her best. I've given it a try on several occasions but wasn't at all impressed with the foul language from the few 'regulars' who were the only people there each time I've been in. They would put anybody off. Having now realised that they score only one out of five for food hygiene on the 'Scores on the Doors' scheme, I certainly wouldn't want to eat there either. Can't somebody come in and save this little gem before the village loses yet another of its pubs?

The Crown, Shoreham

The Crown manages to maintain a traditional feel. Nothing fancy...no music or games machines and one of the best Sunday lunches you can get anywhere! Friendly service. A good mix of friendly locals and other regulars who've been visiting for years. Could improve selection of beers though......
