I've been in pubs since I was sixteen (naughty). I mostly prefer real ale and the more traditional pub, but I will consider each case on its merits. I live between Tooting Bec and Wandsworth where, as far as I'm concerned, the damage has already been done!

The County Arms, Wandsworth Common
This is my closest boozer (4 mins walk). I watched with disbeleief when it was gutted (I was gutted, too). Yes I know that it badly needed something but this cynical and deliberate engineering to appeal to the nearby middle-class Toastrack estate (it's called that because of the shape when you look at it from above) takes my breath away, even now. The two good things about it are the air-conditioning and the bottled beer - the best value in the place by far.
What can I say? It doesn't feel like a pub any more. And why have they painted the walls the colours of various internal organs?
