The Rose and Crown, St Albans

After decades of painstaking research I can honestly say this is my favourite pub in St Albans. The pub sits comfortably as a thoroughly good and sociable boozer, avoiding the embourgeoisement that has destroyed so many St Albans pubs over recent years, while never straying anywhere near the territory of the typical drunken Saturday Night madness displayed by so many of St Albans pubs. Never had a bad pint, never had anything else but decent service.

The Eight Bells, Old Hatfield

This pub has certainly had problems in the past, especially with it's beer. The last and current owners have however put a lot of effort into turning the pub around to the point where I'd describe it as a thoroughly welcoming and decent pub that can turn out 3 very good real ales. To my mind it can now be favourably compared to the better pubs in Hertfordshire's pub Mecca - St Albans.
