Very poor I thought. I visited during some football match and had a pint of lager amidst a bunch of football morons talking crap. The inside of the pub has real charm which is totally ruined with a redundant fireplace containing dried flowery stuff and a great big flat screen telly for the morons. A real shame. Hopefully the pub will endure until its charm potential is realised once more. FLUEBADGER - 17 Feb 2010 16:21
I agree that this is an old pub that should be visited as it has a lot of character with low ceilings, snug areas and an inglenook, but I wouldn’t want to spend all night in here. The R and B music seemed to be more for the barmaid than the customers, but she was extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. There are three hand pumps, but two are unused with the other dispensing Greene King IPA which is a little lazy on behalf of the management. There is a dartboard which is good to see, but I still think that this place is more worth a look for the building rather than the atmosphere and beer. Strongers - 27 Sep 2009 23:39
The pub is old and has character, though that included a leaky roof - albeit the other side of the bar. There was only one beer on offer the evening I went - Greene King IPA - but it was well kept and a decent pint. I felt it was the sort of pub I'd want to include in a pub crawl of Hatfield, but not spend all evening there (unless they normally do have more than just Greene King on tap!). Difficult to know how to rate this one - did I go on an off day? hitchinsampler - 8 Aug 2009 00:13
A proper old fashioned pub - bit worn on the edges - but very enjoyable. Food good, though the burger was dry. Would go again! peterschofield - 13 Feb 2009 15:02
A bit scruffy inside, but a good cheap baguette and baked potato, and a decent pint of Bombardier. Friendly service. cato - 28 Aug 2008 16:55
