The Morden Arms, Greenwich

The Morden appeared to be undergoing decoration when I went, so it wasn't obvious until I got close that it was open. What a nice surprise however---good beer, nice staff and a lively atmosphere. There was a 7-piece trad jazz band who filled the place up. It was nice also to be over 30 and not to feel old in a pub!

The Pear Tree Inn, Hook Norton

A friendly village pub, which in these difficult times survives through being the tap room to the Hook Norton brewery. A warm welcome and with all the current Hook Norton range on handpumps, a good preview for a visit to the brewery. Strongly recommended.

Vernon Arms, Liverpool

I wonder how long this traditional delight will survive gentrification. This is a gastropub but not as we know it, with meals at less than £5. About 5 handpumps with at least 3 of them brewed locally. Just because the floor doesn't seem to be level doesn't mean you're not under the influence anyway; it is in line with Vernon Street outside. Enjoy while it lasts!
