The White Hart, South Harting

Really good...15 of us had lunch here on Sunday after a (hilly!) walk so the open fire was lovely, good real ales, the staff were all friendly and helpful ( including landlady and presume it was the landlord who helped me choose a wine ) but the food we all thought was outstanding....roast belly pork the best ever, rare beef best in a long time of weekly pub walks, lamb with faggot, guinea fowl breast with confit leg rissole and herb stuffing...etc...
And at reasonable prices, nice amount of space and comfortable seating areas... just wish it was our local!

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Fareham

8 of us ate there on sat eve....disappointing...when you pay £14.95 for a main course in a pub you expect the best. It was tasty and looked good, the veg were lovely but most of the meat (4 out of 5 lamb) and 2 monkfish were overcooked and had very little sauce /'jus'. We asked for more but it never came. One portion was so gristly it was sent back but the replacement - when it came - was overcooked.
No sign of a manager overseeing it.
However - the beers are excellent and its a nice pub - popular with the locals.

Queens Arms, Basingstoke

Its still lovely - we went here a week or so ago ( we go about once a year when we go to a concert at the Anvil) and contrary to some recent comments the landlord greeted us and couldnt have been more helpful - ensuring all the early meals were on time ( delicious pies as he recommended). Great beers and the wine choices better quality than most pubs. Seems to still be popular with the locals as well as us visitors and I can see why.
