The Parrot Inn, Shalford

Stopped on way down canal, good food. Steaks, one done medium rare, one done medium, both excellent. One pizza that, good sauce, plenty of cheese. Last dish was lamb, also good. Vegatables a little disappointing. Desert, peanut brittle stack, very good but a bit dry. Added ice ceam.

The New Inn, Send

Stopped on way down the canal. Good beer, excellent food. 4 people shared BBQ ribs and chilli nachos. More than enough for 4. All well cooked and presented. Service also good.

The Anchor, Wisley

Great location, reasonable beer, food struggling to reach mediocre. Had pea and asparagus penne with lemon butter sauce. Peas over cooked, asparagus large and ropey, sauce non existent. One of the party has a special of chilli prawn pasta. Prawns were like bullets, sauce was a tomato sauce with a few peppers in it. All meals were dry. There are plenty of other pubs on the canal with much better food. Avoid this one.

The Three Horseshoes, Thursley

One of the friendliest pubs around. The restuarant is more restuarant than pub, with waitress service. The bar area is quite small so can't take an influx of large groups, like walkers, however, there is a huge garden for the summer months. Food is not typical for a pub, especially at lunch times but is excellent. Beer is kept well and there are guest beers. Bar staff make you very welcome.

The Dog and Pheasant, Brook

This pub has had its problems however the current landlords have completely turned it around. There is excellant food, good beer and a friendly atmosphere. I don't recognise the comments by anonymus on 6 Sep as you often have to book. A very popular pub which I will continue to patronise.
