Popped in for beer after a recommendation.

After joining beer in the evening to search for a child friendly pub in the Surrey area I was delighted to come across the Dog & Pheasant .Myself & my family have been coming here since it was taken over 3yrs ago & are delighted that the traditional country pub is back ! Great food, FANTASTIC fresh fish selection daily, friendly & professional service & a good choice of real ales for my husband, not to mention the childrens area which my kids love especially when the ponies are in the back field!!
I have seen a couple of negative reveiws on here recently & would like to defend, what I consider to be a fantastic pub that caters for everybody! I highly recommend this to all my friends and family regularly & have never received bad feedback from any of them! I have never seen the pub empty & normally have to book a table so in my opinion these negative ratings are few & far between!

There are many reviews for this pub with comments about the slow service. I ignored them. I advise you not to do the same. There is a reason why there are so many comments about the poor service. After waiting 45 minutes from ordering I enquired what had happened to our starters. Five minutes later two starters arrived...they were not the ones we had ordered! At that point we left. How long would we have to wait for the right starters? How long after that for our main courses to arrive? Should I have packed a couple of sleeping bags? My advice to you all...don't bother eating here...ever!!!

Piece of glass in the salad, broken tooth and an expensive emergency visit to the dentist. In addition, the manager blamed the supplier (Secrett's) because "they have no glass in the kitchen". This is absurd - where do they fill up the little jars they serve sauces in?

In addition, the four mains turned up at different times and one sirloin was not done rare as ordered but medium. This was rejected which meant a further wait. Also, both sirloins were tough.

Neither of the children ate their meals. This was because both the burger and the pasta were mediocre at best. AVOID.
