The Salisbury, Manchester

Thanks, Dave. Love you too.

I have had several evenings in the Salisbury over the last few weeks and, sadly, found the beer very variable. In comparison with the pubs in that area, then 'Yes', it was better - however, it did lack consistency and did not encourage me to ask for more.

Sorry if you took that as sarcasm, it was intended as a constructive comment. The pub has a good atmosphere, good staff and great clientele.

If you want to see how it could be done, I would suggest you check out my review(s) of The Cricketers, Keighley - and, then, pay them a visit. Try a Tuesday night, you won't be disappointed.

And, no, I won't call you names...

And another good night tonight. Great band - although they never said their name.

Why - oh why - don't other pubs get it? Look after your beer, employ (and, hopefully, pay well) alert and friendly bar staff, provide good, free entertainment and reap the rewards.

Shame I'm on SV116 tomorrow...

Work overseas and stay in Manchester over the summer. In two months, haven't managed to find a pub with good beer OR decent music. First night in Keighley and back to the Cricks. With the Midnight Special band playing. AND Yates' on tap.

Memo to self, 'Don't waste money and time in the big city'.

URGENTLY REQUIRED: A immediate vacancy exists for an experienced and dedicated cellarman (M/F) to take over responsibility for ensuring that our wide range of cask beers are presented to our customers in perfect condition.

Sadly, although I would love to love this pub, it is let down by its product.

:-(

Have visited this pub regularly over the past couple of months.
Beer usually in tip-tip condition and a friendly atmosphere. Special mention must be made of the introduction of live music several nights each week which has contributed to a growing clientele. Have seen better bands and musicians here for nothing than I've often paid to see.

Very disappointing! After visiting this pub last year - when it was a pub - it has now been re-developed and has lost any character it had. A sterile environment with no personality serving bland food.

What a pity!

What a great little pub this is. My first visit to London for over thirty years and I was in a hotel about 200 yards away. I visited this pub every evening and was most taken with the 'blonde' who may have run the place, I'm not sure.
Best advice - go by yourself, take a newspaper and just melt into the background. The food's cheap and wholesome. The beer even better and the atmosphere just what a pub should be.

Not sure if it happens regularly, but there was an added extra one evening while I was there when a local Tory councillor 'who had served in the British Army' regaled everyone with his wholesome views on the IRA, multicultural Britain and life in general and then topped it off by falling heavily from his buffet. Luckily the floor is made of stone and was undamaged. Absolutely priceless - the Member for the Middle Ages.
