The Windmill Tavern, Waterloo

Not such a bad pub but the central bar is a bit of a pain, slowing service down and the beer is not always up to scratch. Be wary of going if Millwall are playing. A better bet is the Stage Door especially if you prefer home cooked pub food to Thai.

The Fire Station, Waterloo

I cn't believe any rates this pub at all. It is a nobby city pub lost south of the river. Full of pretentious types with clearly no discerning palate at all. What should be a charming environment just feels like a barn. Worse yet the clientele are so arrogant they crowd the pavement outside and are prepared to swear and curse at people just trying to walk by. I saw this happen to a lady with a baby buggy and and elderly man with a guide dog. Stay away or stay inside!

Cane, West Hampstead

Pretentious, crap, uncomfortable, expensive and poorly laid out. the only saving grace is the excellence of the staff but apperently only if you catch then on a good day!

The Fat Controller, Harrow

I don't share crisha's confidence! It has simply got worse with the last two management changes and has gone from attracting the majority of the local office staff to getting the overflow from moon's. We will be over the moon...hmmm...if it does radically improve but taking the mantle of 'best pub in Harrow' really does not say very much! but will be a turnaround from the bottom of the pile.

The Stage Door, Waterloo

The Stage Door is now hosting WEEKLY open mike evenings every Sunday from 7:30pm. I have been for the last three weeks running and it is excellent. Lots of players willing to try out there own material or play interpretations of the songs we all know and love. Nobody minds if you join in for choruses either.

Well worth a visit on these dark cold winter Sundays!
