I can't see why anyone would go here, except perhaps for the convenience of the location, its outdoor tables in warm weather, or to watch bigscreen sport.

I went last Monday evening, about 7.30pm, and it was full enough for there to be few tables free. Of three bitters available on tap, one was already off by the time we arrived, and another was off by the time we were ready for a second pint. What sort of pub cannot keep two or three beers properly stocked on a relatively quiet weekday (Monday) night?

There's nothing really *wrong* with the place, I just can't see why anyone would go here instead of to some of the nearby alternatives, such as the excellent King's Head

From reading the reviews you'd think this was some insane sports bar - which i guess it may well be if the footy is on. But i went on a Friday night and it was nice to find a pub in this area that wasn't completely and utterly rammed. You could get served quickly at the bar by friendly bar staff.

Doom Bar on tap which tasted OK, not amazing.

Not a bad pub overall, although not quite as good as the Stage Door round the corner (although that pub is a little more brown / old man so maybe if you're on a date, go to the windmill, or a restaurant!).

Friendly bar staff, which is always good. Unfortunately there was loads of football on loads of screens when I went in last week. Not the most inspiring decor - left me feeling a little cold, and our seats were hard! I do like a pint of Doombar, but it was off that night. I can't remember the 2 others. One tasted awful, and the other was quite okay.

When the football ended, the drunk suits left us to an emptyish uninspiring pub. Definitely not offensive, but not somewhere I'd think of visiting again

I like this place, quite darkish inside, bare floorboards, friendly, laid back atmosphere. Been in a couple of times recently - fri and sat nights and felt quite at home.

Owned by the same people as The RIng 200 yards down the road, this pub has a rather artificial air and the same wall-to-wall grey decor as its sister pub, and an even less inspiring choice of ales - Doom Bar and Ringwood Best all hat they offer. On the upside, they were showing the Champions League football and we were perched on the bar without difficulty. Like The Ring, it also seems to do a brisk trade in Thai food which is presumably why most people visit it. Definitely lacking in character or atmosphere however; Don't get me wrong, I like the colour grey - just not terribly fond of it as an interior colour.
