True, there are quite a lot of chavs in there, and although most of them look new-born, 99% are over age as the staff are quite tight on ID. Very busy on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights. No Garden. Smoking and Non-smoking areas... like it makes any difference. Food served most days until 9pm (exception weekends. Prices are very low, this is why there's so many youngsters, if you don't like it, spend a little more cash, go somewhere else.

Rock bar, pure and simple. Usually populated by Reading's Grunge/Goth/Metal/Rock/Punk army. Great atmosphere. Conventional pub upstairs, cool club downstairs. Beer garden with outdoor heaters and a canopy in the winter months. Drink prices aren't great but the selection is good.

Ok, true, a mock-irish pub, owned by the same company that runs Scream. Good place to go for a few drinks, not a place to go for a night out, it's a pub, not a club. Live music Friday and Saturday nights. Major sporting events shown. Friendly, hardworking staff. Probably the best quality of bar service anywhere in Reading. Good selection of beer, all changed very regularily. 1am closing Friday and Saturday.

Crown and Horseshoes, Enfield
Fantastic summer pub! A beer garden so big you could play cricket in it... Small inside, but comfortable. Prices aren't great but I've seem worse, much worse.
