This bar is CLOSED and the site being re-developed. Not sure if it will be replaced or is being turned into flats / offices

The North Star, Ealing

Something so wrong with this place. It's in a good location, near to the tube etc, but somehow has zero atmosphere and always seems to take ages to get served (and watch out for short pints). Not sure what would help it, but a better layout of tables with enough seats would surely be a start, and turn down the music? Should be a fabulous goldmine but I can't bear it.

The Crown and Sceptre, Fitzrovia

Jeez, a great central London location and lovely to be outside on a summer evening but totally spoiled by complacent staff who are far too cool for school. We endured endless very short measures with ungracious top-ups. And on taking a very cloudy pint back to the bar were met with an 'it was the end of the barrel' shrug and actually had to ask for it to be replaced. Argghhh.

The Rose and Crown, Ealing

My housemates and I are fans of the Rose and Crown, a friendly, local boozer with Tom in charge who cares about the place and is always up for a game of table football. The food is good quality and you get plenty for your money. The quiz night on a Sunday is well attended (our only gripe is that it starts too late and runs on a bit for a school night). But on the whole, a big thumbs up.

The Haven, Ealing

This is our nearest pub, so I wish it were better. Nothing wrong with it as such, just lacks any character. Always feels a bit empty and cavernous when I go in there, think it needs a bit of cosy-ing up. Staff are ok, but not brimming with any enthusiasm and like most pubs in Ealing ought to watch the short measures. Food is a bit ambitious but mediocre, especially for the price. On the upside Steve hosts a good quiz twice a week and the garden area out front is nice.
