The Blue Peter, Polperro

Easily the best pub in Polperro, friendly, good beer and compact with a nice homely feel to it. Exactly what you want as a tourist.

The Three Pilchards, Polperro

A nice pub with a few good Cornish ales. Looks a bit run down and bland, but welcoming. Toilets are outside in the courtyard, which is fine in summer.

The Noughts and Crosses, Polperro

Ale was reasonable, but clientelle unwelcoming. The 'lounge' room reminded me of a canteen... I think there are better options in Polperro.

Duke of York, Whitby

After a recent visit I found the ales on offer in top condition. A good range available. The only problem was how busy the place was, but what can you expect with a good pub on a weekend?!

Star Inn, Upper Cumberworth

Some nice ales and a friendly welcome in this quiet village pub. Plenty of parking available.

The Resolution Hotel, Whitby

Disappointed with this place, no decent ale at all and lacked character. Staff friendly enough, but the place just seems to try and be trendy, but too shabby to pull it off.

The Tunnel End Inn, Marsden

Fantastic pub, real ales and welcoming staff. Food was absolutely great and placed close to the canal for a pleasant stroll. Couldn't fault it.

The Boot and Shoe, Scholes

A great busy locals pub with some decent beer. Friendly place though getting in the car park can be a bit tricky!

The White Hart, Denby Dale

A few decent ales and the place has improved over the years from it's days as 'Mr Boons'. Nicely furnished with a few tables along the high street to watch the world go by. There's also a small beer garden to the side.

The Foresters Inn, Lower Cumberworth

A nice selection of ales with plenty of comfortable chairs. Nice for somewhere that appears more upmarket without costing the earth. There are a few tables the form a semi-beer garden in the car park.

The Cask and Spindle, Shepley

Good for food, and not bad ale but wouldn't bother if you just want a drink.

The Black Bull, Shepley

Traditional pub where the natives will turn and stare at newcomers... A warm welcome from the staff though. Shame about the lack of real ale, although they do sell bottled ale.

The Sovereign Inn, Huddersfield

Definately just another eatery - drinkers not particularly welcome.

The George Inn, Upper Denby

Recently taken over by new management and completely refurbished but it is still a traditional drinking pub (no food served) with a warm welcome. Landlord, Blacksheep and Tetleys all on draught. Pool table and TV available in tap room. Open fires in both rooms during cold winter months.
