what an absolute dive ! Tried to refurb it recently and tried to go down the trendy route. Just dark and gloomy looking with no atmosphere. The beer tasted awful too, like the pipes hadn't been cleaned for a week. The staff were rude ( except the guy with the beard, he was nice. We ended up going the the Star nearby where it was a lot nicer.

Sorry!!!!!!! I meant to say 30th March 2011!! Magda promises payment, then disappears off the radar. Another poor guy worked for over 2 weeks to help them out the s*** ( he is from a reputable local pub) and 5 months later has yet to receive his wages.

This truly has to be the worst pub I have been to! If your a live music act I would advise you not to play here as the manager has a tendency to refuse payment even when a contract has been drawn up prior to the gig.

Bunch of crooks! We never got paid for providing their staff t-shirts, despite repeated reassurances (lies) from the Manageress. We find out later that they employ people from other pubs for weeks at a time, and don't pay them. They don't pay their bands. In fact generally they don't pay. Avoid like the plague, unless you like giving things away for free.

IT APPEARS DEAR MAGDA HAS MOVED ON AND THIS PUB IS NOW UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP. She did a stint at the Winterton Arms, before leaving, owing them money too!!
