I used to be a student nearby and always came here for the reason it was so cheap, although it really was a hole. I have now moved to the area and went for a sentimental pint and was gobsmacked by the change in this place.
Not sure when it changed hands - think just before christmas - but it is utterly transformed. I bumbed into a regular who i knew from before and he moaned a bit about the price hike but he was still there !
It is now so clean and bright with great framed prints on the walls , completely new staff and beer tasted like beer for the first time in years there!
Havent tried the food yet but it smelt great and will be back with some more folk to have a pie and a pint very soon.

Met a mate here for new years eve - for a quick pint.... ended up staying! one of the regulars told me that the landlord used to make guns himself - hence the name and fascinating wall mounts...worth a pint just to see them..!
The beer flowed and was bang on. Staff glamarous and atmosphere was cracking, this is a real gem in an otherwise run of the mill (in my opinion) area for originality regarding the pubs nearby.

What a wicked Pub!!
I have been so bored of the other surrounding pubs that my mate who works at the bbc suggested the masons on a thursday about two weeks ago...I have been about 5 times since!
It is just right in there, great staff, very clean, the beer is great and its not full of morons. I have finally found my london local. If you haven't been then you must - just dont sit by the fire- its my seat!!!

Mixed reviews about this place, however.. I have been drinking here for years. Beautiful looking pub, with amazing flower display outside. The staff are helpful and very friendly and keep the pub pristine clean! Good selection of real ales and well kept. I will continue to drink here for a long time
