Royal Seven Stars Hotel, Totnes

Something for everyone here as the bar areas span wine bar to pub lounge bar. We sat outside having drinks and some good quality sandwiches whilst watching the world go by. Friendly staff, good selection of beers - would definitely return.

The Inn on the Green, Tadworth

Agree with all comments about this being more a restaurant than a pub but for those wanting to eat and have a couple of drinks either in the bar or the restaurant you wont be disappointed. Great variety on the menus and all of our group had different meals and all were very pleased. Friendly welcome, good service and lovely real fire burning on a cold day gave it a lovely feel. Wine list is relatively expensive but well thought out. With a choice of drinking pubs very close, has its place in the local market.

The Smugglers Inn, Dawlish

I visit Dawlish 4 or 5 times a year to see relatives and the Smugglers is a great pub for a friendly welcome and a good selection of hearty pub food to be eaten in the restaurant, bar area or outside to take advantage of the great view. The carvery is among the best I have tasted with locally sourced meats (3 to choose from) and constantly replenished potatoes and vegetables. The pub is well run with attentive staff and they have a good selection of beers. Well recommended.

Ye Grapes, Mayfair

Popped in post shopping on Saturday and only a smattering of people inside and out. Shepherd Market is a nice little oasis away from the bustle at times like this. Service was good, noted that they were quiet, and with a smile, all in all a good experience.

The Brewery Tap, Wimbledon Village

Good pub, has changed a bit over the years but good selection of lager and beers and staff are always very friendly. Met friends for the cup final and it was busy but with a nice mixed crowd. They had just stopped serving food but said it was ok to grab something from Bayley & Sage and bring it in as long as you gave the packaging in to them. Nice touch. Will definitely be back.

The Crooked Billet, Wimbledon Common

I generally use the Hand in Hand but last Saturday whilst approaching from the other side I thought I would give the Crooked Billet a chance, I shouldnt have bothered.

I had the distaste of watching a girl ignored by the surly and very slow barman in favour of a group of drunken lads and two regulars who had entered the pub after both of us. When she sighed in frustration he sneered "have you ever worked in a pub before", she turned on her heel and left to her credit without responding.

Saw her in the Hand in Hand and thankfully we were both served very quickly and with a smile despite the pub being twice as busy. Tip to all, for the extra few steps the Hand in Hand is well worth it.
