The Green Man, Little Braxted

The pub is now in new ownership, gone is the country pub feel as it has been modernised and the heart and soul has been put in a skip.
On first arriving there was nowhere to park as the front car park has been covered with tables for drinkers as there is little space inside as it is all set up for food. We managed to find a seat in the middle bar and had to sit with our 2 drinks (cost £10, usually about £8 at the other pubs we visit) and listen to a load of foul mouth business men trying to big each other up ,they had no respect for the young girl or other females in the bar. Sorry to say it has gone downhill since Matt has left and sorry to say we wont be going back. Its a shame as it was a nice country pub and the new owners have tried to turn it into there Chelmsford pub that they own.

The Ferryboat Inn, North Fambridge

Used to like going here for a drink as staff were friendly, Since the new manager took over a couple of weeks ago its not the same.
He has no personality to run a pub and just gets in the way while the regular staff are trying to do their jobs.
He has also put the prices up, my two drinks now cost me 80 pence more.
Feel sorry for the staff who have to work for him.
My rating is 1 for the Manager and 10 for the pub and staff.

The Swan, Little Totham

We went for sunday lunch a few weeks ago which was excellent,so we decided to go for lunch on Saturday for somrthing to eat before going shopping. We decided on a Ploughmans, my wife had cheese and I had ham,egg and pork pie.We have never been so disappointed with a meal.We waited a long time for the food to come out as the chef was having trouble boiling the egg, my wifes cheese ploughmans consisted of cheese, half baked baguette,a few grapes and a pot of pickle, mine was a egg, slice of ham, pork pie, baguette and pot of mustard. It was very poor value at £7.50 each. Probably wont be going back again for a while if at all,I think the other diners felt the same as they ordered ploughmans aswell.

The Jolly Sailor, Heybridge Basin

Very tired pub, owners and pub need a makeover.Wine served short measured ,Crabbies ginger beer down in cellar so had cider instead.Very large dog in bar area barking and beyond control, think I will give it a miss in future.

The Bell, Tolleshunt Major

went here today for a drink, walked in before a regular but they ignored us and served them first. My wifes drink was below measure line on her glass, had to have mine changed as the glass was chipped as was my wifes.Probably a nice pub if you are a regular but if passing dont bother.

The Hurdlemaker's Arms, Woodham Mortimer

We went to this pub today to meet the daughter after shopping in Maldon. We ordered 4 baguettes which took an hour to arrive, when we left just pointed it out to barman who disagreed,he said they were very busy ,only 4 tables occupied.we will not be returning as there are better pubs in the area.
