The Longbow, Stapleford

The Longbow is dead, long live The Three Horseshoes. The pub re-opened last night with 6 real ales on tap, plus a range of imported lagers and bottled Belgian beer. The redecoration is excellent. The beer choice outstanding.

No food yet. Speaking to the licensee he is expecting limited service next week and a full menu by Easter.

The Devonshire Arms, Cambridge

Absolutely brilliant since ite relaunch. Excellent beer, interesting well made food, knowledgable & friendly staff. And close to the station to catch the train later.

The Square and Compasses, Great Shelford

Decent enough pub. We went on steak night but they had run out of salmon steaks and the substitute we where given was almost inedible. Must try harder.

The Longbow, Stapleford

Now reopened under new (local) management. Some redecoration done and well priced but fairly standard food on offer. Decent beer and some interesting real ale selections not often found in this area.

The Devonshire Arms, Cambridge

one of the few pubs in cambridge which doesn't have real ale. worth visiting for the wildlife though.

The Salisbury Arms, Cambridge

back on form. used to be one the best pubs in cambridge but went into a bit of a decline: poor beer, no food. since the new landlord & lady came in earlier this year the food is back and the beer is quality again. 8 beers, with a mix of regular + guests although the guest choice isn't very adventurous.

jukebox is CDs now but the selection of music is eclectic and listenable.

The Live and Let Live, Cambridge

excellent beer, good value food & great atmosphere. in other words a fine pub.

The Plough, Coton

very much a restaurant rather than a pub these days. they tend to frown on you if you are just drinking not eating. which is a shame as the beer is good and it has one of the best pub gardens that I have come across.
