Fountain Inn, Bridgwater

Called in one Friday during the day recently. Good crowd. 5 ales on all at very competitive price. Mole Catcher was spot on. I will definitely visiting next time I'm in Bridgwater.

Lamb Inn, Lower Weare

Superb pint of Cheddar Ales Gorge Best. Potholer and Butcombe also on the bar. Very competitive on price at 2.55. Food looked good; especially the side dishes of veg. Nice big pub with lots of rooms. Very attractive lady behind the bar. Everyone friendly. If you're visiting Cheddar, use this pub instead of the honey-pot hostelries in Cheddar. It's only 5km down the road.

The Bowling Green, Horwich

The Bank Top is the best pint of dark mild anywhere that I can remember and at 1.55, best value in the area. You can also have Flat Cap at that price too.

The Bell Inn, Wylye

Called in a few weeks back and evidently new licensee in charge. New menu and much better value. Food was excellent. Some concern about the cask ale as it was hazy and not in the condition expected. Shame as Hidden beers are superb and I believe this is their flagship pub.

Bob's Smithy, Montserrat

Seemed OK five years ago with roaring fire and acceptable beer if not a touch pricey. Recent Saturday lunchtime found the pub cold and uninviting and selling a cloudy pint of Timothy Taylor's Best at 2.30. You don't have to go far to find considerably better.
