The Two Poplars, Wokingham

Recent refurb has seen the TVs, and the kids, depart. Pub is now even more comfortable and the tucker even better. The outside area at the front is smoke free with smokers being confined to the tattier area at the rear. A big effort has been made and deserves to succeed. A slightly more imaginative range of (local) beers could be the key.

The Queens Head, Wokingham

Gone down a bit in recent months. Service is often slow and a new louder clientele is dominating to the detriment of locals, some of whom have moved on.

This pub is OK but it could be so much better. The layout is great. Its roomy and serves good tucker and has unobtrusive TVs dotted about the place. BUT it clearly aims to attract the alcopop generation and the lack of proper beer lets it down big time. If it got its act together, and aimed for a slightly more sophisticated clientele, this could be one of the best pubs in Wokingham.

The Duke's Head, Wokingham

This is a pub that has had its ups and downs but deserves to be a popular haunt.

Ye Olde Leathern Bottle, Wokingham

Perfectly acceptable pub although has had rather a chequered history. Good choice of proper ales and the nosh is pretty good as well. Hope it stays that way.

The Walter Arms, Sindlesham

Great food even if a little pricey. Bit pretentious so wont suit the traditionalists but still friendly and comfortable.

The Bull, Barkham

Almost faultless! Great food using local ingredients. Lovely pint of Broadside and no kids under the age of ten. What more could you ask for?

The Crooked Billet, Wokingham

Super pub in a lovely location. A bit out of town but great for cycling or walking to for a spot of Sunday lunch. Shame the beer's a bit on the expensive side tho.

Rifle Volunteer, Wokingham

Perfectly acceptable boozer even if its a bit like a large living room. Friendly staff and locals. Good place to watch the footie.

Crackin little pub and a great place to watch some rugby. Good tucker and some interesting local ales.

The Three Brewers, Wokingham

A curious place. The atmosphere seems to change with the seasons. Worth a visit.

Molly's Millars, Wokingham

Worst pub in town. In fact, less pub, more youth club with beer with the inevitable consequences. Lager, lager, lager. The sort of place most of us only visit once. By mistake.

The Queens Head, Wokingham

This is a proper pub like pubs should be. A bit small but with a big heart. Best pub in Wokingham. Much improved in recent years.

The Red Lion, Wokingham

If ever a pub was ruined by being sacrificed to 'modernity' then this is it. Used to be a smashing old pub now its like a Harley Street waiting room. Thai food is good fun tho!
