The Penderel's Oak, Holborn

Was open after 11 so we reluctantly ventured in. I had forgotten just how awful spoons pubs are. It looks like a service station canteen from the 1980's. The only redeeming feature and i mean only, was the fact it had a few decent ales on. Bright carpet, fruit machines, posters with photos of their nasty food offerings. Just a big corporate profit machine. Unbearable.

The Harp, Covent Garden

Cracking pub, great selection of ales, friendly staff. I'll be back for sure.

The Flask, Highgate

Nice old pub although 3.50 for a pint of three point something session bitter, bit steep innit?
Food is fine (for a managed pub) better that when it was owned by M&B, although that's not saying much.

The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

Lovely little pub but....
The rudest landlady in London totally spoils it, absolutely disgraceful.
Can't be bothered going into the details.
Won't be going back.

The NW1, Camden

Truly awful in every conceivable sense of the word. Frequented exclusively by tourists who are obviously unaware there are any number of superior drinking establishments close by.

The Star, Highgate

Bit of a supply and demand issue on last Sundays visit, too little of the former and too much of the latter. A victim of its own success Im afraid. Shame as the food is very good. Dont get me wrong I would definitely recommend a visit, I am a big fan of the place in general, but would recommend doing so earlier in the week to avoid waiting for food, tripping over pushchairs, and having to raise your voice to be heard.

The Orange Tree, Totteridge

Looks nice from the approach, I suspect it was once a lovely place for a pint or two. Unfortunately it is nothing more than an upmarket harvester for the nouveau rich. Completely devoid of any character or individually. If it was in an airport terminal it would be ok but not out here in the real world where people have a choice. So many of our country pubs are being taken over by big chains and turned into glorified service stations, preying on towney sheep types who don't know any better, its such a shame.

The same review applies for their other pubs the bull and bush and the freemasons.

It thinks its posh and so do the hapless fools who eat there. Wise up people the joke is on you.
