The Rose and Crown, St Albans

I love this place. Good varied clientelle, a good range of beers and everyone who works there is so friendly. Not sure about dog comment.. only seen one and it was dead friendly. New chef apparently and menu is really good now. Recommended drinking hole. Oh watch out for 'folky' music on a thursday but some good other live music at weekends on occasions. None of your 'new bar' pretentiousness here. A good old fashioned English pub. Try it and see!

The Vintry, St Albans

Just to sat that i agree with everything already written about this place. AVOID.. it is simply the worst place to drink in town. Drunk wannabee gangstas who couldn't fight their way out of a wet bag all getting manly after a few lager tops. Same for the 'women'. I'd rather drink in east London any day

The Tudor Tavern, St Albans

always enjoyed this place and 'foreign' barmaids are always cracking! both in terms of friendliness, skills and appearances. But has this recently changed hands?? Went in there last week and it was totally dead.. I was the only customer for nearly an hour and didn't recognise anyone behind the bar

Three Hammers, St Albans

good beer and new landlady has customwers at heart. Quiz nights can be good fun and food is cheap and of good quality. Only issue is service is dead slow.. I've seen faster service in a closed little chef.
Sad but it can ruin your evening.. bar staff need a rocket and lessons in bar skills. Good job they don't work in a town centre pub.

The Rats Castle, St Albans

Proper boozers pub. Football on tv, pool and no pretentiousness. Good honest pub. beer good.. locals friendly even if they do all seem to be arsenal fans. Good place for drinking

O'Neills, St Albans

Love it when they play good live music. Gets really busy and you do have a long wait to get served by staff who are miserable. I always enjoy it in here though. Beer generally good.

Mokoko, St Albans

dire dire dire. Hype hype hype.. almost as bad a lloyds as a place to go for a good night. Souless and pretentious and full of people you don't want to spend more than five minutes in their company. A sad part of the St Albans pub history story. Steer well clear

The Horn, St Albans

Great place to go for music. Some of the beer will get slopped/spilled but hey when its heaving to good rock.. what do you expect. Always have a good time

The Cross Keys, St Albans

good cheap beer ala wetherspoons. Service is terribly slow as mentioned previously. Less of the under age drinkers now but they still exist.

The Blacksmiths Arms, St Albans

Not the place it used to be. Empty and no atmosphere. Used to be a top place but whilst beer is ok its now a place to have one to start off from and then move on quickly. Put it back as it was.
