Flan O'Briens, Bath

Been going in here loads recently - totally agree with ericmarco - landlord is a quality bloke. Always happy to help out.

The place also has wicked music. Very rare to get the Jam, the Clash and the Pistols played in a pub, rather than a club, on a Saturday night. And with a late licence as well Wednesday to Saturday, you can't go far wrong.

The Hat and Feather, Bath

It was never my favourite boozer anyway, but it is now truly atrocious. Previous comments speak for themselves - this was not what was called for and the architect behind 'Hudsons' is, in the words of Bill Hicks, a 'soulless spiritless sucker of Satan's c*ck'.

It has no charm, no identity and no virtues. Burn it to the ground.

The Crystal Palace Tavern, Bath

Recent refurb (i.e. it re-opened yesterday). Can smoke again and definitely less tatty than it was. More old-fashioned and more cluttered, but an improvement.

The Blue Bar and Grill, Liverpool

Nice place, and was certainly better than the late unlamented Beige. However, given the proximity of Babycream and the PanAm, this place suffers by comparison.

Baa Bar, Liverpool

Oldskool industrial bar gone mad. Good place mid-week but it is *really* not worth queueing for on a Saturday. Roof-top beer garden is great.

Babycream, Liverpool

This should be really pretentious, but in fact is great. I really like the decor and while it is not cheap you don't ever go down to the Albert Dock for cheap ale.

Can burn your own CDs while you sup a pint, although quite why you'd want to has never been satisfactorily explained to me.

The Lamb and Lion, Bath

Cheap and cheerful. Never going to win any design awards but it is aware of its limitations and does the basics well. 1.45 a pint of Carlsberg - miraculously cheap for Bath. 1.65 gets you Carling - moving up in the world.

Loads of screens and friendly bar staff - very good service all the time. Recent refurb means it is not as tatty as it used to be. Highly recommended.

The Huntsman Inn, Bath

One of those places where you sit down and have a few beers and suddenly it is half 12 and you're necking sambuca. Time flies.

Cool balcony bit just down from the dancefloor and as previous the pool area downstairs is great.

The Hat and Feather, Bath

Seems to have closed down.

The Green Park Tavern, Bath

Great place. Seems to go on for ever - corridor leads to next room and on and on. Can be a bit of a hike to the bar from the beer garden at the back and can also get a bit too rammed with students at times.

Nevertheless, many a good time had here.

The Boater, Bath

Totally agree with previous comments about under-age (or, at least, those who can't handle their ale) customers during the summer.

It is also expensive for no particular reason and very pokey inside. Beer garden is large and accomodating, unless it is full of screaming adolescents knocking back vodka.

The Barley, Bath

Was in there for the quiz last Sunday for the first time. Very impressive. Nice boozer and the quiz was first class. Could possibly improve on the choice of lager.

All Bar One, Bath

Standard All Bar One fare. Do have Erdinger Weissbier - always a good thing. Recently banned smoking - sadly a reflection on the way things are going in this country.
