Three Compasses, Hornsey

Went back to this excellent pub on the night of their Carol concert.

They really do make an effort to make the place work for customers.

I can't praise it highly enough.

The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park

I must agree this is a cracking local pub. Bigger than you think once you get inside. Run by a professional pub-operating family.

It knocks spots off the other local pubs.

Richard I, Greenwich

Like many a pub, it's best at lunchtimes, this is partly because it's pretty small inside and partly because the number of visitors to Greenwich builds as the day progresses.

Although it does food, it has thankfully avoided becoming a dreaded 'gastropub', unlike the 'Hill' along the road (formerly the Barley Mow).

The Nags Head, Belgravia

For me, the best pub in Belgravia.

Yes, there are plenty of other excellent mews pubs nearby, but this place has also got 'character'.

The staff were very chatty; 'no mobiles' policy inside and out was great.

I good place to take non-London pub goers, just to surprise them with a friendly little pub in the heart of the richest area of the UK.

The Grenadier, Belgravia

It's charm is it's hidden location (you have to be Sherlock Holmes to find it), but it's well worth a lunchtime visit.

I found the staff to be very friendly, considering I was part of a 15 man stag do.

Quality of real ale, good.

The Nightingale, Balham

A really pleasant place to spend a mid-week lunch. Very friendly staff. Very nice rear patio. Great real ale.

Three Compasses, Hornsey

As someone who actually travels across London to go this pub, I can't say that I recognise the comments of 'anonymous'.

It's a very friendly community pub; it is the opposite of elitist. It serves working people and city flyers equally.

A lovely pub.

The Hornsey Tavern, Hornsey

This pub has got new owners and the place has taken a turn for the worse.

Full of dodgy geezers.

Avoid unless you like that kind of thing, of course!

father pierre will be very pleased to hear that the bar person is long gone. The pub is my local and i'm very happy with it. it is the best pub in N8 by a suburban mile!

Alsation?? It's the cleanest place I've ever been! Wizzard must be confusing it with somewhere else!

The Dacre Arms, Lee

Quite simply, it is the best 'local' I have ever been to.

No food, admittedly, or Sky TV, but you don't seem to miss either.

It is a gem, hidden in the backstreets behind Blackheath and it's hideous set of pubs.

A must.

Three Compasses, Hornsey

Well, for Hornsey, I must say I was impressed. It has changed a lot since I was last here - completely refurbished. It looks like a chain pub but it wasn't. Food was very good. Two bar areas - one sporty, showing rugby on a big screen, while in other bar people were just chatting.

Good mix of males and females of all age groups.
