The Castle Green Inn, Taunton

Actually, chopin, the old manager, Matt, chose to leave so that he could fulfil his travelling ambitions,of which he is now doing...

Last I heard he is very happy doing this.

And he sends his regards to The Firestone and all of us back in sunny Taunton!

The Purple Turtle, Reading

what happened to this place?

i used to swear by it!

now i cant afford to get a soft drink,

and where the hell has everyone gone.

i remember that reading had a community of bartenders.
and the turtle was the venue.

now it is desolate of them.

and the drinks all got so expensive.

the bouncers got ruder...

and the chavs are there!

what is going on?

The Alehouse, Reading

this place is one of only two pubs in reading in which you will never find a bad pint of ale.(the other is the retreat)

the staff are rude sometimes!

because they would rather the idiots, that they are rude to, would piss off elsewhere!

no glitz, no glamour, just really great beer!

3Bs, Reading

bohemian night is a cracker!

what lets this place down is how poorly the beer is kept!

The Redan, Wokingham

i had been in this place only once until recently, i only went back in because i was meeting a friend.

but i was amazed!

the place is lovely now!

run by andy and kim, i felt fight at home within seconds!

shaken by the hand as i was greeted by the lovely andy,
i was then given a drink on the house!
(dont get that often!)

then i asked for a cocktail!

yes, they do cocktails now!

and i was made several great drinks through the night.

with fresh strawberries and blueberries and all sorts of weird and wonderful spirits!

and my friend was happy too!

they still do real ales

all in all, a clean and refreshing bar for wokingham.

all it needs now is to make sure it keeps the scum out!

this will be my new regular haunt in town!

Ye Olde Leathern Bottle, Wokingham

i drink and eat in the leathern bottel about 3-4 times a week,

i bring clients there for lunch,
and i bring my family and friends in the evenings.

I think this place is great!

they try and keep kids to a minimum,

the place is so busy every day, and the staff are friendly.

the food is generally good if not great,(only one dodgy meal i have ever had there)

there are very few pubs in short walking distance of my house, and to be honest i wouldn't go to any of the others!

the managers and staff all seem to know what is what,
and yeah sometimes they look like they are struggling,

but what do you expect with a beergarden as big as theirs,

i don't think their kitchen suddenly grows when all the hundreds of people all descend on the place at the same time.
so obviously food will take its time occasionally

but i also think that the food is well worth the wait!

i am sick of people moaning for the littlest things.

if it is that busy in the place, then expect a certain ammount of time for stuff.

it is a pub
not a restraunt

if you want full on waiter service then go to prezzo in town!

and the barstaff are always gonna struggle with the size of the bar, you can't fit anymore than 3 behind it.

so when you all want serving at the same time, try being patient!

and try being polite!

as a customer i see so many rude arrogant idiots that never bother to say thankyou or please.

did your parents never teach you any manners!

so what i think i am trying to say is...

the Bottle is a great local pub, a great destination pub, a great summer outdoors pub.

the only thing that ruins it, are the rude customers!
