The George, South Woodford

absolute skankhole. cant get served unless you wait more than 10 minutes, and the bar staff seem to just ignore you even if youre standing there looking like youre waiting for a drink. the bar was an absolute mess and the tables hadnt been cleaned in god knows how long. and there was broken glass all over the floor. seems like quality of service has been disregarded for milking pubescent teens of as much of their money as possible.

guaranteed to serve you a drink if youre falling down drunk, though. which must be good for all the alcoholics in the area. responsible retailing, it is not.
plus a couple of people on the table nearby us were seemingly itching for a fight and at each others throats. no wonder they have bouncers in there these days.

disappointing really because i used to enjoy coming here every week with my friends from work. i doubt i'll be in here again any time soon though.

The Crooked Surgeon, Leicester Square

came here saturday afternoon as part of a pub crawl. several of my friends were sharing a hot dog costume at various points of the afternoon. good atmosphere with the six nations rugby on the big screen. and the food was good too.

i have been here on a saturday night though and seen its impossible to get served for ages, but in the middle of london thats to be expected. would come back but be choosy about WHEN.

The Red Lion, Withington

came here hoping to take part in the free quiz night they run every monday, but we turned up too late for it.

other than that, my experience here was a good one. would easily come back again.

The Shakespeare, Manchester

had a pint of Bombardier in here, which was in excellent condition. Although i was bothered by my friend and i being slightly harassed by the local drunkards/builders, and the toilets were absolutely skanky. stank like they hadnt been cleaned in ages.

apart from the ale there wasnt anything that inspired me here.

The Old Wellington Inn, Manchester

popped in for lunch yesterday. good food, but the Deuchars IPA left a lot to be desired. I also popped in this evening with a couple of friends. They advertise that they serve food every day until 10pm, yet when i tried to order some at 9:30 they told me they werent serving.

disappointed all round. dont advertise a service if youre not going to provide it!

The Marlborough Head, Marble Arch

had another fantastic evening in here last night. place has definitely picked up and it was ended on a great note. one of my friends really wanted to go to a karaoke bar, and we all ended up singing along to bohemian rhapsody at closing time. one of the bar staff even took a video and posted it on youtube for us. lol

will definitely come back again and again if it ends up being like that. :D

The Marlborough Head, Marble Arch

This pub has just opened 2 days ago after a drastic overhaul. One which was needed, I might add.

I've been drinking in here with my friends for about 5 years or so now. Whilst the theme and everything else was really good for us to begin with, over the last couple of years it went right downhill. we were put off by the bar staff, and also some of the other customers in there.

Now it has totally transformed into a gastropub type place. Upstairs is more of a drinking bar, while the downstairs is now more restaurant orientated. The food is pricer than what it used to be, but is well worth the money, and the drinks are still reasonable for a central london venue.

Me and my two friends that were with me yesterday were all impressed. We will definitely be returning next saturday for our annual halloween get together, despite there no longer being the eerie theme anymore. :D
