The Spyglass and Kettle, Southbourne

This pub has amazing potential which is under used. The location is superb, the beer is good, the food tolerable, but the place is let down by its general grubbiness and the apalling decor in varying shades of mud, sludge and beige. I advise a coat of paint and a good dusting session every few days. surprisingly, the loos were very clean and fragrant ... looked better than the kitchen, in fact. C'mon guys, pull yer socks up and turn this pub into the great place it should be!

The Ship Inn, Lymington

A very beautiful, well-fitted pub, which serves minuscule portions of over-priced, cold and tasteless food at inflated prices. The staff couldn't care less, and I suspect they are treated with as little care as the customers. My advice: take your own sandwiches.

Rose & Crown, Pucklechurch

Very nice. Ticks all the boxes. Good beer, delicious, varied menu with ample vegetarian specials, nice atmosphere, cheerful staff. Highly recommended.

Martyr's Inn, Tolpuddle

Oh dear! Booze not bad, but pub sadly lacking an atmosphere for such an historic area. My advice is don't eat here. It is difficult to get a ploughman's lunch wrong, but here they managed it. The cheese was OK, but the salad was sad, the home-made chutney unspeakably bad, and the bread very stale. I'm not sure why it is too much effort to use quality ingredients and produce such a simple meal properly. They did however, manage to charge a premium price for this sorry plateful.
