Historic pub with car park. Friendly staff, roaring fire, Christmas tree and piped Christmas music. Good pint of Fursty Ferret and good food. Food took over 20 minutes but was worth the wait. Delivered with complimentary salad. Plaque with Tolpuddle Martyrs' names. Sold postcards and Martyrs chocolate.

Second visit to this great pub, this time for curry evening last monday, yet again cracking food, found out they are all homemade curries and amazing tastes. Fantastic food yet again and great furkin fox ale, will be back again...

An excellent pub, if ever there was a deserving 10/10 then here it is. The welcome was warm, friendly and welcoming, the beer from Hall & Woodhouse excellent, and the menu superb. We both had steak, the menu just lists local Aberdeen Angus Steak, and the waiting staff make the recommendation depending on what they have in the kitchen and how you like it cooked, I ordered a rare rump, and my wife a well done rib-eye, we were offered the option of a sauce, when I asked what they had, I was told that chef could do what ever I wanted, I had a peppercorn, and amazingly no extra charge. While we were waiting for our meal, we had a complimentary salad bowl to while away a few minutes, and when main course arrived - fantastic.
Prices are higher than some 'Pub Companies' but they don't offer this type of quality. There was a flyer on the table explaining we could join there 'friends' scheme to get 15% off and free access to a local stately home, we did not do it as we are still house hunting, but we liked the pub, and the village, so will be back - maybe for good.

Had the most amazing roast beef sunday roast, best beef i have ever tasted. staff were very polite and very welcoming and they have some very nice stoford press cider on tap as well. Will go back and take more friends and have another very nice sunday afternoon.

Oh dear! Booze not bad, but pub sadly lacking an atmosphere for such an historic area. My advice is don't eat here. It is difficult to get a ploughman's lunch wrong, but here they managed it. The cheese was OK, but the salad was sad, the home-made chutney unspeakably bad, and the bread very stale. I'm not sure why it is too much effort to use quality ingredients and produce such a simple meal properly. They did however, manage to charge a premium price for this sorry plateful.
