The Royal George Inn, Appledore

Popped into the Royal George a couple of times over a week in Appledore. There were usually 2 local beers on. The staff were helpful and it was clearly popular with local people. Music a regular feature 3 times a week.

Coach and Horses, Appledore

Looked better on the outside than it was on the inside. Went in during the day and perhaps this made it seem more drab. The beer was fine but it all felt a bit tired and after one drink I was ready to move on.

The Seagate Hotel, Appledore

Great folk band on last Monday night and well kept local ales too. Very busy with pilotgig (rowing of wooden boats by teams of 5 or more) contest on as well as Morris dancers on another evening. Staff were helpful and friendly.

The Beaver Inn, Appledore

Down in Appledore for a week and visited the Beaver Inn 4 times. The beer was good, always 3 pumps on and the cider was ecellent with at least 2 local ones on. The bar was well staffed and the staff were helpful and knowledgeable or would find out if they did not know. Both locals and tourists were using the bar. There is regular music too. The atmosphere was friendly. Ate in the restaurant on the last evening, the fish was fresh and succulent. It was 27 for two main courses and a shared pudding - a reasonable price for a great meal. The riverside location and the big patio area to sit out on as the sun set - well just brilliant.
