Great folk band on last Monday night and well kept local ales too. Very busy with pilotgig (rowing of wooden boats by teams of 5 or more) contest on as well as Morris dancers on another evening. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Tantalizingly, found this place on the last night of our holiday (pre-2000). At the time, I rated it one of the best places I had ever visited. Returning a couple of years later, the bar billiards had been replaced with a revolving pool table, but the atmosphere was still great.

Great folk band in on Friday night, friendly atmosphere despite it being standing room only. One of the bar staff during the afternoon was sat doing diddly squat when all the tables needed clearing, it looked a mess.. shame!

This a great pub.I use it regularly and particularly on Friday evenings as there is great entertainment to be had from the resident folkie type band along with visiting players who sit in from time to time. Always good musicians and a variety of styles. The beer is well kept and served with local beers including Old Appledore and Golden Pig from Country Life. The staff are friendly and efficient toward locals and visitors alike and always have a ready smile. The food is good too and there's a separate restaurant at the rear which specialises in fresh fish dishes. One niggle I have is that a number of locals regularly save seats by putting coats on them while waiting for friends to appear, which is a shame as there are always people standing, clogging up the limited space at the bar, while there are numerous seats empty. Shouldn't be allowed in my opinion.Don't let this puit you odd though. There's space outside to drink and eat al fresco and enjoy the view.

The Seagate is a hotel with a large pub lounge bar open to all. Two cask ales (Old Appledore and a guest)
Friendly, cheerful and efficient bar staff who (thankfully) don't reflect the attitude of the owner.
Music nights on Mondays (open jam); Fridays (regular, local musicians with occasional guests) and Saturdays (a booked band).
Bar food and a restaurant. Very good atmosphere when busy on music nights.
