The Globe, Shotesham

this was a lovely traditional pub which we used several times over the years, with our Jack Russell However since April 2015 have adopted a no dog policy. They are fortunate that in these times of pubs closing they can afford to turn away trade as we shall not be returning neither will our friends who accompanied us with their dog.

The George Hotel, Castleton

We visited here once or twice over Christmas & New Year 2010, as as usual was impressed with the beer quality, price and staff although Chris could do with a "keeping the fire alight course". This is a really great traditional english pub and well worth a visit.

Ye Olde Nags Head, Castleton

I visited here several times over Christmas & New Year 2010, having last visited Feb 2010. What a difference! Super choice of beers, all at correct temperature, staff friendly, & I would say to anyone who has been before & was unhappy, "try it again". well done John and Vicky.

this has the potential to be a great pub, but the ever changing staff means there is no continuity & no committment to customer satisfaction, but having said that my son & his family stayed there in November, & were well satisfied with the room, service & food.

The George Hotel, Castleton

We spent a couple of weeks in Castleton in November & used the George most days. Most excellent beer, & Chris ain't a bad lad. Highly recommended.

Now closed & boarded up.

Went there over the Christmas holiday but since my last visit in October, almost all the staff has changed, including the manager, who seems determined to alienate the staff, customers & locals alike., As such I only visited it twice on this visit & I wouldn't be surprised if it was closed by the time I visit it again. Beer was ok, though only Black Sheep & Tim Taylors on offer.

Management seem to change on a weekly basis. Latest rumour is that it is soon to close for good.

Kings Arms, Watton

Not anything good to say about this pub. No food, beer not too good, especially the one & only real ale, Adnams Bitter. The opening hours seem to change weekly. Best avoided.

The George Hotel, Castleton

I was drinking there for a couple of weeks from end Sep 08 & found the beer to be excellent. I didn't eat there, but the food looked fine. Will be there for Christmas.

I was there early October 08 for 2 weeks, didn't stay at the hotel, but visited it every day, & although I didn't eat there,( I don't mix eating with drinking), the food looked very good & everyone seemed happy with it. They now have a new cook, Ant, & Suzie behind the bar. The beer was superb, look forward to going back for Christmas.

Robin Hood and Little John, Cherry Hinton

As a drinker & not a diner I wasn't particularly impressed. It is a typical Corporate pub, lacking in character, & more geared up for the dining trade than the drinking trade. Upon entering it smelt more of a fish & chip shop than a pub. I wouldn't visit it again.

The Royal Oak, Poringland

situated 5 miles from Norwich on the B1332. A free house with usually at least 12 real ales, all in superb condition. Holds a beer festival twice a year,(spring & autumn) No food. Large car park

The Champion of the Thames, Cambridge

A perfect no nonsense trad. English pub. No food, no music, no machines just excellent beer. I doubt if the pub has changed in the last 50 years.
