The Tipsy Laird, Kingussie

Ate here during Lands End to John O'Groats cycle trip. Good, big pile of food and real ale. For the real ale desert that is Scotland very good.

The Fools Nook, Macclesfield

I stopped on my cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats. Although officially they'd stopped doing food when they found out what I was doing the chef came out and I had a big plate of salad and pate... including extra bread. Had two excellent pints as well. What can you say? They'll do me...

The Crask Inn, Crask

I stopped by here on my cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats at 11am to top up my water bottles. The landlord, Mike, and his wife invited me in for a coffee and gave me some very helpful routing advice (avoid Tongue because of the hills!) I didn't get to sample the beer and whisky but it looks a fantastic traditional inn. We'll definitely stop by here when next up that way.

The Old Coach House, Potton

After a longer than planned country walk we were really looking forward to having a pint and had got this one out of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
1. The beer *was* good... from the Potton brewery.
2. The landlady was friendly.
3. But the place is a dump. The walls need something hung on them, there are lots of plain tables with leatherette chairs like a 1970's working mens club. This place could be really good, but just needs a sympathetic touch.
