St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

One of my local pubs, i must say it gets worse every time i pop in.
Yes the beer selection is ok, yes the prices are ok and yes the majority of the staff are charming!!
The big NO however is the food..... I agree with the comment below, the burgers are acceptable as are the steaks, but the rest is ridiculous!!!
I understand that big pub companies set down the recipes to every pub. But surely the food in this place is not what head office would be happy with. All the food is overpriced for what it is, i wouldn't have a problem if it was ALOT cheaper.
The laziness of the kitchen staff is ruining this place more than the microwave dinners that took over 2 years ago!!

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

The place reminds me more of a Weatherspoons every time I visit. If only their prices were similar the frozen food would be easier to swallow

The Marble Hill, St Margarets

Im sorry to hear the Jazz night is stopping on a Thursday. It will be a sad loss to the local community as they really managed it well. Please dont tell me the comedy night at the Turks Head is to cancel.

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

I sympathise with the person who had the jalapeno crab pasta but believe the food given to me could win in a worstmeal ever competition.

I ordered a Lamb Hotpot but received a Lamb Shank(boiled in the bag Im sure) with boiled Potatoes on top. I dont blame the chefs as they are probably not used to British food but the management must make sure their trained or this pub will have problems as it is well known around St Margarets for frozen food at restaurant prices. My friend paid fifteen pounds for a very poor Fillet Steak with Horseradish Sauce(definately not home-made)heated up and poured over it. Gordon Ramsay would have nightmares for sure.
If this pub wants to serve food of same standard as the Weatherspoons chain then they should charge a similar amount. The Sunday Roast with aunt bessies is of a poorer standard.

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

I am very disappointed after my dining experience last Sunday. I found the staff unfriendly and cold, but this may be down to their fear of smiling. Some of the prices seem to be quite steep, for what is obviously frozen food, i.e the chicken tikka curry. Can anyone cook fresh food NOT in a microwave in this pub?! Not impressed........ However the selection of beers was very much to my liking.

The Crown, St Margarets

After reading the reviews on The Crown and then experiencing an evening there myself, i find it hard to believe that these people had ever actually been.
I really enjoyed my meal, as did the 5 people i was joined by. The food was very tasty and i found the staff to be very friendly and the atmosphere extremely pleasent. To summarise, great pub, great food, can't wait to go again!! (Especially in summer when the sun is shining, sipping a magners in the fantastic garden...)
