The Queens Head, Eastville

Looks a lot better since being done out, and the prices are good - it's rare to be able to get change from a fiver for two pints anywhere apart from the Wetherspoons.

Wish there was more choice of lagers though.

Definitely an improvement on the goth hangout of old.

Light and spacious inside, a good range of drinks and decent food.

Can I suggest though that the ciabatta is replaced with a crusty baguette as my steak ciabatta was very dry, and the onion marmalade hideously sweet and cloying.

Goose At The Flyer, Horfield

Very pleasant pub, nice garden and reasonable prices - we paid �5.30 for a pint of Becks and a Doombar.

The food menu looked good, unfortunately I think I chose the wrong thing as the nachos looked as if they had been deep fried and were quite revolting.

The woman behind the bar could have done with a few lessons in customer service - despite being the only person at the bar I waited several minutes to be served as she was too busy talking about her social life.

The Bell, Bristol

Went for a meal with work colleagues at lunchtime - landlady messed up our food order and we ended up paying twice for a portion of fried potatoes. Hardly worth quibbing out, but wasn't impressed by the attitude and the insinuation that the mistake must have been ours not hers.

Also very expensive for drinks, �2.50 for an orange juice & lemonade (1/2 pint) and �3.50 for a white wine and soda.

I think we will give it a miss next time.
