Premier, Widnes

No draught cider on the night I visited AARGH!!! Otherwise this is a clean, large, bright and friendly wetherspoons, the booths r well comfy and there were no queues at the bar, better than most of the rubbish bars in Widnes

Woodrow Wilsons, Carlisle

There's something I like about this place, yes its dirty, yes theres dodgy characters, yes they always run out of food/drink, bit i keep going back. Try it, have an open mind, and promise yourself you'll pop in for a quick one, 6 hours later come rolling out very merry!

Friar Penketh, Warrington

I agree with u chesterman! Love this place, less of an attitude than the usual warrington crowd. Handy for Warrington Bank Quay station as I can testify nearly missing my train in here one day. Never got over leaving half a pint and loads of nachos to leg it up the road, boo hoo!! I find the staff very friendly and chatty in here, even if they all seem to slag off the management, but the bosses r doing something right to run a top notch wethers like this one!

The Square Bottle, Chester

Whilst an unashamed Wethers fan, I must agree with the below posters. Very busy on a weekday afternoon, not a lot they can do about that, but perhaps some more staff, a clean cloth for wiping the tables, and a few mental health nurses for all the oddballs in there might help. Ale wasnt bad tho, and the cider was welcome on a hot day!

The Gate Clock, Greenwich

Great on a hot summers day, yes it does look a bit like a cruise ship, the wonky, wobbly bar stool I sat on feels like i'm at sea as well and thats before I've had a drink. Very cheap drinks here and all within staggering distance of DLR, Bus stops and all that greenwich has to offer!

The Punchbowl, York

Handy for train station, enjoyed it in here, cold pint of cider on a hot summers day, delicious!

The Water House, Durham

This place looks well classy and food was cheap and massive, cheap drinks too!

Willow Grove, Southport

Had a very cheap breakfast here, seems big, adverts for swing nite on wednesdays with live music, sounds fab! Look at the dearer prices as a music tax!

The Waterhouse, Manchester

This place is like a big house, lots of little rooms. New menu with specials, although u can get the same food for about a quid cheaper at any of the other wetherspoons round the corner. Its a good little find and never any chavvy types in here

The Paramount, Manchester

I like this pub, busy and takes a while to get served but worth it. Handy for gettin some cheap food before going to the gay village!

The Moon Under Water, Deansgate

At the end of the day its a wetherspoons. We all like wetherspoons for not pretending to be something they aint. At least u get a decent pint in a clean glass, food is cheap and good. If u want to pay 4 quid a pint for some poncey place then go down castleford basin.

Sir Richard Owen, Lancaster

Nice wetherspoon, slightly better than the other one in lancaster, cheap food, cheap drink and a good mix of people!

The Green Ayre, Lancaster

Right down the bottom of the high street this pub is handy for bus spotters. Its a very nice wetherspoons, as its near the town centre its busy and lively, with plenty of students. Cheap drinks, good food, all in all a good day out!

The Auctioneer, Blackpool

I went here on a wet and windy november morning, found it clean, plenty of hardened drinkers even at 10am, good breakfast, cheap and tasty. Id deffo give this place a go in the evening, better than those tourist trap seafront bars full of chavvy scum!

Moon Under Water, Wigan

Recently refurbished, this place, although a bit rough is very handy after a hard days shopping and also handy for train station. good food, cheap drink, good service even when busy, sometimes tricky to get a seat tho as its so busy!

Brocket Arms, Wigan

This place is great, a JD wetherspoon Lodge, hotel upstairs clean, tidy and very smart. Pub downstairs is massive, large bar and lots of different areas. Great food although u sometimes have to wait a while, cheap drinks and its well out of town so none of your usual chavvy clientele. Make a weekend out of it, come and stay in Wigan!

Spinning Mule, Bolton

We loved it in here, contrary to the review above we found the service good, the curry club as great, nice tasty cheap burgers too. Busy but no attitude.

The William Rufus, Carlisle

This is a fairly new addition to Carlisle, a lloyds no 1. Very stylish, groovy loos, fab food and a late license. Just down the road from the wetherspoons, handy for the train station and a very cheap hotel (ibis) opposite. Had a fab nite here a while back and a hangovewr from hell the next day. Its great!

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

been here loads of times while passing through, busy from opening to closing. managed to get a seat upstairs, upstairs bar much quieter than downstairs. Had the biggest sunday lunch i've ever seen, great value for money, and it arrived quickly. They could turn the heat down tho, upstairs gets roasting.

Salt Cot, Saltcoats

Prob the only decent pub in saltcoats, always busy and seems to take ages to get served. Good food and good booze. A bit of a ned haunt but plenty of normal types in there too.

The Half Moon, Stepney Green

We visited this pub recently and were well impressed. Busy front bar, seems to be popular with the old'uns. Nice conservatory linking the big old front bar with the modern back bar. we sat in the conservatory which is great as u get to have a good nosey around and can see the action in both bars. Food was great, even though my first choice wasnt available, the chef came out and apologised and offered an alternative. Cheap drinks too.

Only downside is toilets were a bit slippy, either urinals splash while they flush or a lot of bad aimers in there!!

Wheatsheaf, Kilmarnock

This is my local, always busy. Theres a good mix of customers, old men drinkers blocking the bar, workers and labourers, girly groups and solo drinkers. Friendly staff, good food, cheap drinks. This place is a huge pub, and therefore can be a bit chilly, take my advice and wear a jumper in the winter.

13 Mar 2006 15:10

The Angel, Angel, Islington

We love this pub. Busy but always able to get a seat. Yes the customers can be a bit rough round the edges but there is never any trouble in here. Only problem was my mate fell over coming up the stairs from the bogs and split his lip, everyone thought he'd been beat up down there.
Cheaper than west end and central London wetherspoons too!

The Glass Works, Angel, Islington

We went here one Sunday night cos everywhere else was closing, busy on a Sunday, polite bouncers, served really quickly, only problem was tables were dirty, there did not seem to be much glass collecting going on.
Lloyds no 1 bars do everything they promise and dont pretend to be anything that they are not! Go and enjoy!
