No longer offering discount to Camra card holders, this is not the decision of the pub manager. Also applies to William Rufus nearby.

really nice wetherspoons with nice attentive and fast, not too fast staff.

They had some Allendale and Dent beers on a recent visit. I had the Allendale Swift and the Dent T'owd Tup, the latter a 6% beauty. This is a very good place, though surrounded by some pretty ghastly hostelries on Botchergate.

This is an excellent 'Spoons. The staff were helpful and friendly, and I was even asked if I was a member of Camra, which would have given me a discount off any pint of ale. The ales I tried were in good condition and very reasonably priced. Next time I visit Carlisle I shall be back. 8 out of 10.

A lot better than I remember on previous visits. Don't know if we were just lucky but the choice of ales was superb including a porter.
