The Queen Mary, Embankment

I have to concur with the reicews above - the bouncers were terrible when I went. Rude and aggressive and kept people queueing for ages for no reason - only to let their mates in who barged past everyone. Will never darken its doors again.

The Railway, Kew Gardens

used to be my local but find it a little depressing nowaday. good quiz machine though.

The Woodman, Battersea

Been here a few times now. The food is decent but you'd hope so for the price. The staff are a mixed bunch - some being friendly and efficient others not. The eastern european barman in particular was useless as he didn't seem to understand a word and didn't take our food order leaving us waiting for an hour. However, the bitter is good and the punters are a nice bunch. Do agree that the screen positioning for sport seems a little odd though.

The Duchy Arms, Kennington

Proper locals pub - friend;y enough place to watch the footy and cheaper than most other pubs in kennington.

The Prince of Wales, Kennington

Worth a visit if you like real ale. Bit too small for my liking and does tend to fill with braying posh types in summer time.

The White Hart, Kennington

food is ok and staff are firendly enough. However, the heating doesn't seem to work making it pretty uncomfortable and the atmosphere is pretty cold as well. Arent there enoughof these anodyne 'gastro' pubs already? Dull and I won't bother going in there again.

The Dog House, Kennington

This is the best pub in the area by a country mile. Staff are friendly and attentive. The food is decent for pub grub and on a par with the white hart and a few quid cheaper. There is a relaxed atmosphere during the week but gets pretty lively on weekends esp friday. Contrary to some of the other posts the manager is very friendly and a good laugh so long as you don't act like a wally to him or his staff. Recommended.
