Beers expensive and not well kept. Crowded at weekends with the local youth set. Very average food offer too. A shame as this could be a great boozer.

Now very much a cocktail joint with garish decor and aloof serving style. Food is of the salad and sandwich variety. Not really a pub anymore.

The Marlborough Arms, Cirencester
Bit of a barn - no real atmosphere but OK if you like your live sports. Crowd seemed friendly enough but the beer was badly kept on our visit.

Had a good meal here the other day - tasty food, friendly staff and decent service, generous portions and not overpriced. A short wait but this was OK as the pub was busy with Sunday-lunchers (which also looked good). Well kept Arkells bitter - 3BS and 2BS. Will definitely return.

The Golden Cross, Cirencester
Returned last week and enjoyed a truly excellent meal. The new chef obviously knows his onions and the whole place had a buzz about it. Will return again sooner this time.
