The Prince Albert, Camden

Had a truly memorable time here on New Year's Eve (and for all the right reasons, I hasten to add).

Food was excellent as was the service and whilst I enjoyed the wine cellar on the evening, my partner was on the ale concentrating on the Strong & Dark (Twickenham Brewery), that he reported to be very good.

Party games and a quiz were the order of the night, and whilst our grey matter didn't quite compare to some (so no prizes for us!!) we did have a wonderful time and made new friends (those we tried to copy off - which was most tables, to be fair).

The Fellow, Camden

Not too sure about this place.

Whilst the food is good and the wine list extensive (but also expensive), I couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable here. Couldn't quite put my finger on whether it was the slightly cold service and the sterile feel of an empty restaurant, or whether it was the decor.

Anyway, worth popping into if you are hungry and in the area, but make sure you've got funds in the bank or someone else is paying...!!

The Three Hammers, Mill Hill

A little bit like an airport lounge in appearance, but having said that, whoever has designed the place for Ember Inns (presumably one of their in-house bods) has done quite a good job of splitting up the large ground floor area into cosy and intimate sections.

Ok the food isn't all that, but really you should know what to expect when walking into an Embers Inn, so if you're not expecting too much you won't be disappointed.

The drink selection was extensive and I saw no evidence of the groups of adolescents hanging around that other posters have witnessed.

Would go back when in the area.

The Green Dragon, Barnet

Nice location, especially in summer when the surrounding fields are in bloom or at harvest time.

However I've been here a couple of times for food and have on neither occasion been particularly satisfied. On the first occasion the food and service were very slow indeed, whilst the food itself was pedestrian (and that's being kind). The second time, things had improved slightly and it was just the service that needed tweaking (well, kicking about actually).

Perhaps I'll try agian one day.

The After Office Hours, Barnet

Everytime I go to this place its empty, and as a result it ends up feeling soul-less, even when there was (pretty loud) live music on the last occasion.

Not sure why people seem to avoid the place (or maybe it's me they're avoiding) as it's actually quite nice in there with helpful and friendly staff and a fair selection of lagers and wines.

Will no doubt find myself back in there at some point as Barnet has so little else to offer (apart from the Mitre a few doors down).

Ye Olde Mitre Inne, Barnet

Not too sure what Snarling_Mallard is talking about re the layout. In my opinion a fantastically welcoming pub with excellent selection of ales (written up on the blackboard next to the bar).

Comfortable and plentiful seating both in front of the bar area and down its length, plus an open fire. Lovely place and head and shoulders above everything else in Barnet (admittedly not that difficult to achieve).

The Golden Lion, Camden

Been in here a number of times and it's pleasant enough without being memorable.

Has a pool table and darts board and a fairly limited selection of beers. The lady behind the bar was pleasant and chatty as was the one other person in there on my last visit (and his dog).
