Baron Cadogan, Caversham

The beer is excellent and the staff are always helpful.
Ideal for Caversham
Yeah there are a few chavs about, but so what.
It's trendy to slag off Wetherspoon, but pinters can't argue with well-presented real ale and terrific prices.

Of all the Spoons pubs in and around town, this is my preferred choice.

The Flowing Spring, Playhatch

I have a soft spot for this pub - and it is so pleasing to see it coming to life again.
Been for lunch this week and the food knocked ny socks off. really tasty and the atmosphere in the pub is like the old days. Its a proper poub with with really excellent beer - what is what really matters.

The Bell, Waltham St Lawrence

They have to sort their food service out - it is atrocious. 50 minutes for a bambi burger, a fistful of chips and a layer of rocket. 12 - is far too much.
Really enjoyed the beer - as usual - great selection and well kept. Staff are all chatty and pleasant - but please Bell sort the service out.
Good luck, it is still a great pub

The Flowing Spring, Playhatch

Went down here last friday. They had a music night on. The place was packed and the beer - what really matters - was excellent, tasted fantastic. There's a new landlord who is putting a lot of energy into turning the pub round, so one of the locals told me. Don't really know about anything else but the beer was as it should be. The atmosphere was like what it used to be as well - it was like a pub. well in. The nine is for the Pride, it was that good

The Kings Charles Head, Goring Heath

Sadly this pub has closed down and is being refurbished as a family home.

Used to be great for a late lock-in

The Travellers Rest, Caversham

The beer is cheap alright, but I'd say not very well kept. The pride was not the worst I've tasted, but it could be considerably better. I ended up drinking the John Smith's - so maybe the Pride was bad after all

The Flowing Spring, Playhatch

I have always loved this pub - it was one of the first that I legally drank in.
But where have all the locals gone? Went in two weeks ago for the first time since April and they had all disappeared, as has the darts team and the crib team it seems. I had thought the pub would get a new lease of life under new management. But the bubbly atmosphere that I have always associated with The Spring seems to have disappeared. I remember the mid-nineties when the place was a lively boozer. What has happened?
The only consolation was that the beer was okay.
