Falcon, High Wycombe

Gets really busy on weekends, and the barstaff don't seem to have been trained to cope when a dozen or so people are waiting to be served.

Real ale is usually spot on, but they don't seem to do as many guest ales these days, and when they do, they invariably run out when I fancy a try!

Typical Wetherspoons pub. Cheap beer, cheap food.

The Hobgoblin, High Wycombe

I agree. The Hobgoblin in the only decent pub in Wycombe at the moment.

A good selection of ales, well looked after.

All sorts of people frequent the establishment - from students, to bikers, to theatre goers...

My only criticism would be that it gets very smoky.

Dolphin, High Wycombe

Visited the Dolphin on Saturday 9th September, 2006. I'd just watched the football at the Golden Fleece and thought I'd pay a visit to the newly opened Dolphin to see what it was like.

Unlike the Golden Fleece, it was very quiet, and unfortuantely the beer was very poor. I asked for an Abbot Ale which tasted like vinegar. The bartender then had to seek permission from the landlord/landlady to change my pint. So I decided to have a Greene King IPA (the only other choice). I then had to ask for a refund (as this wasn't offered) given the Abbot Ale was more expensive than the Greene King IPA. I managed to drink 1/2 of the IPA and decided to call it a day.

Very disappointing to visit a pub that doesn't know how to keep and serve Real Ale.
