The Charles Dickens, Southwark

On recent visits to this pub,I have found that the the opening times are not to be relied upon as you would with normal pub hours,Saturdays they call last orders at 9 30 pm and sundays they close at 6 pm and as recently as Mon 1st August they closed before 10 pm.Another bad point is the poor condition of gents toilets, urinals always overflowing. The beer is reasonable
if happen to find the pub open when you visit.

This is great pub with excellent choice of real ales, 6 handpumps on the bar at one price 3 20p per pint,Very busy during lunchtime and early evening good food served,Wednesday is pub quiz night starts at 8 30 pm (free to enter, winners get free round of drinks),also has a small outside seating area at the back of the pub.Weekends are less busy closes at11 pm on Saturday,
I would advise anyone visiting on Sunday to check with the pub as they were closing at 8 pm but this has now changed to 6 pm and sometimes earlier

Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

I have visited this pub many times during the past 2 years and find it ok.
The beer choice is quite good, with up to 8 handpumps on,bar staff are quite pleasant. but recently the pub increased its prices for real ales to 3 60p a pint across the board no matter what strength the beer may be, the exception being London Pride which was 3 50p and Doom Bar at 3 05p
but you have be lucky to see Doom Bar on.The prices of the beers used displayed on each hand pump but now they display no prices at all My friends and I have stopped using the pub and use other pubs that don't
charge so much for their beers
