The Still and Star, Aldgate

I was directed here by the landlord of another Pub, he described it well. The nearest thing you will find to an old east end drinker, with good ale and friendly drinkers and staff. Usual selection of London ales, and Adnams Lighthouse too, did not try the Stones bitter, but the rest were very good. Long may little places like this survive.

The Peacock, Tower Hill

Excellent Pub with a very friendly atmosphere, the locals treat you as their own. Exceptionally friendly staff, who look after you very well and indeed. A good selection of ale; Ringwood Best, Hooky Bitter, Wadsworth 6X which is unusual for London and a great Local brew, we tried them all and they were spot on, also a standard range of lagers. The staff and landlord even went to lengths advising us about where to eat and other good al pubs to drink in. Top hole place.

The Minories, Tower Hill

A rather cavernous place which is a little too anonymous, the staff are there to sell and it appears that customers are an inconvenience. If it was not for the fact it is adjacent to a station I suspect it would be empty. Standard choice of drinks, nothing special, all in all, there is no real reason to go there. They are however proof Cask Marque means very little.
