The Pipemarkers Arms, Rye

Ordinary looking from the outside, and inside. A locals pub, neither friendly nor unfriendly. Had good beer on (my favourite Old Speckled Hen) and live music, a good way to round off a Saturday evening's drinking.

The Queens Head, Rye

I thought this was a very nice pub - looks a lot better (and larger) inside than out. The service was very friendly, and both the food and drink were well presented and enjoyable. Was quite busy when we visited (early evening) ; would definitely go again and try other things from the menu.

Cinque Port Arms, Rye

Like most pubs near a bus station, this is a bit of a dive, but the service was friendly enough and the beer well kept. OK for four "lads" touring the town, but not so much of a family pub.

The Ypres Castle Inn, Rye

A friendly and well-appointed pub, with a garden with excellent views of the Ypres Tower and also the surrounding countryside. Larkins Best was excellent, and the weather helped. Another pub not to miss if you are touring Rye.

Mermaid Inn, Rye

Absolutely beautiful both inside and out. A must to see if you are visiting Rye. Definitely busy on a Saturday lunchtime but we found a table outside. You need a mortgage to drink here, but the pint we had (£4 plus) was well kept. Service and ambience match the prices.

Ye Olde Bell Inn, Rye

Stopped here on a Saturday lunchtime in early October, found a table outside, good for people-watching and admiring an attractive part of Rye. The pub smelt a lot of cleaning products inside, but the beer tasted good - Harveys and "Long Man", both local brews. Not the best pub in Rye but not the worst.
