The Noose and Monkey, Aberdeen

Seemed alright when I was in, nothing spectacular. Strange colour scheme, red and blue everywhere. Didn't dislike anything about it.

The Howff, Aberdeen

Like drinking in a Welshmans living room (which isnb't necessarily a bad thing). Friendly, screens for the footy, decent beer, underground location makes it pretty cosy in the winter. Wouldn't want to spend a sunny afternoon in here mind.

The Frankenstein, Aberdeen

Good for the football. That's about it (unless you like your pubs to resemble a mid 90's ghost train). 3.30 for a pint of San Miguel!! Seems pretty friendly mind.
There isn't much up that end of Union Street that's any better to be fair.

The Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore

Great little pub in a not so great town (you wouldn't go to Aviemore for the architecture but the scenery is amazing). Very handy for the bunk house. Had Deuchars, 80 shilling and a Brains beer when I was ion at the weekend, all on good form. Nice place for a quiet afternoon drink. Friendly staff. Food looked very nice. Think they've a penchant for Gaelic music so weekend nights could get quite lively.

The Ferryhill Tavern, Aberdeen

I like this place. The long sweeping driveway, car park and green area / play park outside give it the feel of a country pub when actually it's very central. Inside the interior is very comfortable and welcoming, fireplaces, tartan cushions, dark wood etc. Usually Directors and 80- shilling(I think) on offer, both pleasant. A nice Friday evening pub to kick off proceedings, particularly as they often come around with free fish and chips.

The College Bar, Aberdeen

Not really a 'pub' as such, more of a sports bar. Nothing will appeal to the traditionalist. Classic 21st century city centre feel to it, wood finishing, big tables, lots of straight lines etc. However, to watch the football with a few cold continental lagers, there are worse places one good go.

Carriages, Aberdeen

Fairly mundane hotel bar, lacks character or indeed any noteworthy features. Drab interior, very small screen for the football (either have a bigger one, or not one at all). Decent selection of real ales including Black Sheep, wasn't too impressed by any of them though it must be said. Staff seemed friendly.
It is what is it. A hotel bar.

Under the Hammer, Aberdeen

Interesting place. One room, fairly small. Potentially quite romantic (?!) due to candles and small tables (don't worry though, still a few lonesome souls at the bar). Good on the ale front with a few Isle of Skyes on. Fairly quiet during the week but buzzing at weekends. Certainly a must-visit on the Aberdeen circuit

The Cluny, Ouseburn

Good looking pub, nice unpretentious cheap tasty hearty food, GREAT beer, good charity awareness too - a pub that does it bit, great stuff. Ideal hangout for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Looks a great place for live music too judging by the calibre of the artists posters on the walls.
One complaint from my visit though - a chap was in with his young family (estimated child ages 5 and 7) and his wife didn't like the food (burger was undercooked). She only took one bite and the chap sent it back - the staff couldn't care less and told him he wasn't getting any refund, not even half. He rounded everyone up and left. Utterly appaling service, no appreciation / understanding of consumer rights. I won't go back as a result.

The Grill, Aberdeen

I think many may be put off by the gruff exterior but don't be fooled, it's a gem inside. Nothing cuts out that biting Union Street wind quite like it. Lovely gilded roof adds plenty of character. Incredible selection of malts and a couple of real ales - great to see the local 'Brewdog Physics' on tap which is a lovely drop. Always pleasantly busy

The Prince of Wales, Aberdeen

Enjoyable pub this, good old-fashioned stuff. Always a good selection of ales, coupled with a set of staff who know what they're doing. Frequented by young and old / groups of folk and solo people in there simply for a nice pint in a good atmosphere. Selection of well-priced bar snacks too, both hot and cold (my cheese toastie hit the spot).
