Since "The Imperial" became just another in a long line of dull, unadventurous and characterless chain pubs, both the atmosphere and integrity of patron has gone down the rather disgusting toilets they have there. The pub was always full of scum bag piss heads in the past - social security scroungers who somehow still find the money to be in the pub each day - a problem that a number of Hereford pubs suffer from. And with its refurbishments, the place is more attractive to drink in, but the pissheads still remain. Miserable bar staff, and some real hardfaced girls to boot, make this an interesting if vile drinking experience.

To call this a pub, is a bit of an insult to pubs. Totally devoid of atmosphere, no warmth, over-priced drinks and full of the usual gutter trash that frequent city pubs in Hereford. Going out for a few ales used to be a pleasure in Hereford, and just 8 years ago I could go in at least 5 or 6 warm and friendly pubs, that number is now 3 a the most. The bar staff are particularly moronic, being as they are a mix of students and tarty looking girls. If you go in this pub, be sure to have your England top on. Appaling!

A commendable attempt to offer a wide range of ales in a city severely lacking in this area. With "The Barrels" just down the road I see no reason to go further into town, stick to these two. Has a wide range of events in the week. I particularly recommend the Quiz night on a Tuesday. Although at certain times in the year the profusion of students (who emerge like stinking rats, whenever there might be a few quid to win) tends to spoil things. Also the landlord (who could teach the Americans a few things about capitalism) is possibly the worst and most culturally illiterate quizmaster I've ever encountered.
